How to Connect Your Hostwatt DMCA Hosting Account to Cloudflare Print

  • 0

This guide explains how to connect your HostWatt DMCA Hosting account to Cloudflare and configure the required DNS records.

Important: In the DNS records below, domain.com is only a placeholder. Replace domain.com with your actual domain name.

Do not change the IP addresses, MX priority, TXT values, DKIM value, or other record information provided below.

Step 1 — Log in to Cloudflare

Go to Cloudflare and log in to your account.

Open Cloudflare

Once logged in:

  1. Select your domain.

  2. Click DNS.

  3. Select Records.

  4. Click Add record when adding each DNS record.

Step 2 — Add the A Records

Please create the following A records.

Record 1 — Main Domain

Field Value
Type A
Name domain.com
IPv4 address 216.244.95.219
Proxy status Proxied (Orange)
TTL Auto

Important: Replace domain.com with your actual domain.

For example:

yourdomain.com

The IP address must remain:

216.244.95.219

Record 2 — Mail

Field Value
Type A
Name mail.domain.com
IPv4 address 5.189.187.238
Proxy status Proxied (Orange)
TTL Auto

Record 3 — Webmail

Field Value
Type A
Name webmail.domain.com
IPv4 address 5.189.187.238
Proxy status Proxied (Orange)
TTL Auto

Step 3 — Add the WWW CNAME Record

Create the following record:

Field Value
Type CNAME
Name www
Target domain.com
Proxy status Proxied (Orange)
TTL Auto

Cloudflare may automatically display the target without the full domain depending on the interface.

Step 4 — Add the MX Record

The MX record is required for email delivery.

Create:

Field Value
Type MX
Name domain.com
Mail server mail.domain.com
Priority 10
Proxy status ⚪ DNS only
TTL Auto

⚠️ Important

The MX record must be DNS only.

Do not enable the orange Cloudflare proxy for an MX record.

Step 5 — Add the DMARC Record

Create the following TXT record:

Field Value
Type TXT
Name _dmarc.domain.com
Content v=DMARC1; p=quarantine; pct=100
TTL Auto
Proxy status DNS only

Enter the content exactly as shown:

v=DMARC1; p=quarantine; pct=100

Step 6 — Add the DKIM Record

Create the following TXT record.

Field Value
Type TXT
Name mail._domainkey.domain.com
TTL Auto
Proxy status DNS only

Use the following exact DKIM value:

v=DKIM1; k=rsa; p=MIIBIjANBgkqhkiG9w0BAQEFAAOCAQ8AMIIBCgKCAQEAuB1XO2yOzwKBmfJoSk3Cl0NkpjHaVCq1KKI/LHqK5gQbm6XqAKS/qsttsp6u3kOMfHxFfeyp7DhlfsIQDci6WEGkIp6Adom0eh4KU8NHy87nfOkvxOZUifHDVRzGhTGm1KecV15O1CL8iwLIdQRZMJUpfUxYpJHe3/jV9uO5v+mi+lJfLUefB+Q5oDL1VfgZf hC1Q5RXmqrwKirx3agAvWvdUoRhi0Ca3K/ZUx4K8owKMX3r9CgrJ/IvypRbOYQAbb5izm/tBywSRfQcYMi7vd3uAnS+4Z7YodQbRlX00sMXmyms7gCxq4z05ikcPk7rd/mvvKnSZUNg9QckETn90wIDAQAB

Important: The DKIM value is long. Copy it carefully and do not modify the characters.

If Cloudflare automatically handles TXT record formatting or quotation marks, allow Cloudflare to do so. Do not manually add unnecessary quotation marks.

Step 7 — Add the SPF Record

Finally, create the SPF TXT record.

Field Value
Type TXT
Name domain.com
Content v=spf1 a mx ip4:5.189.187.238 -all
TTL Auto
Proxy status DNS only

Use the exact SPF value:

v=spf1 a mx ip4:5.189.187.238 -all

Final DNS Configuration

After completing all the steps, your Cloudflare DNS records should correspond to the following:

Type Name Target / Content Proxy
A domain.com 216.244.95.219 Proxied (Orange)
A mail.domain.com 5.189.187.238 Proxied (Orange)
A webmail.domain.com 5.189.187.238 Proxied (Orange)
CNAME www.domain.com domain.com Proxied (Orange)
MX domain.com mail.domain.com ⚪ DNS only
TXT _dmarc.domain.com v=DMARC1; p=quarantine; pct=100 ⚪ DNS only
TXT mail._domainkey.domain.com DKIM value provided above ⚪ DNS only
TXT domain.com v=spf1 a mx ip4:5.189.187.238 -all ⚪ DNS only

⚠️ Very Important — Do Not Change These Values

When configuring your domain, only replace domain.com with your actual domain name.

Keep these exactly as provided:

Main website IP:

216.244.95.219

Mail/Webmail IP:

5.189.187.238

MX Priority:

10

SPF:

v=spf1 a mx ip4:5.189.187.238 -all

DMARC:

v=DMARC1; p=quarantine; pct=100

DKIM:
Use the complete DKIM value provided by HostWatt.

Step 8 — Verify Your Configuration

After adding the records, wait for DNS changes to propagate.

DNS propagation can take some time depending on your previous DNS configuration and registrar.

Once propagation is complete, test:

Website

https://yourdomain.com

WWW

https://www.yourdomain.com

Webmail

https://webmail.yourdomain.com

Replace yourdomain.com with your actual domain.

???? Important Email Configuration Notice

Cloudflare's proxy should not be used for mail-related records that require direct DNS resolution.

For the MX record, ensure the record remains:

DNS Only ⚪

The MX record should point to:

mail.yourdomain.com

with priority:

10
